Microsoft Accessibility Conference Report:
Last update date: 1995 Oct 7 IntroductionThis Web page contains information, which is needed by deaf persons, who consider visiting Israel. Last update date: 2011 Aug 17 We take for granted full and equal access to all telephone services enjoyed by people who hear and speak. And this access is a responsibility of the telephone companies, and NOT a charity as in the UK.
Last update date: 2005 Nov 30 On Saturday night Nov. 12th, 2005, I was in Rabin Square, Tel Aviv and attended the memorial event, which was held ten years after Itzhak Rabin's murder at the same place. About the event itself including the music and speeches - especially the speech by Bill Clinton, the USA President during Itzhak Rabin's 2nd reign as Prime Minister - other and better people than me wrote. In view of my experience with the poor accessibility to the deaf of Rabin's funeral broadcast ten years ago, I decided to see and report on the current accessibility situation. Last update date: 2005 Nov 14 Introduction
Last update date: 1996 Nov 30 I wrote the following article shortly after the end of the TV broadcast of Itzhak Rabin's funeral, ten years ago. Ten years later, more attention is given to the issue of accessibility, so Itzhak Rabin's memorial event of Nov. 12th, 2005 was more accessible to the Deaf. First of all, I wish to present condolances to the Rabin family and everyone else, who was touched by Itzhak Rabin's murder. Secondly, I want to make all of you aware of the spitting in the face which I received, as Deaf, from the Israeli Broadcasting Authority and from the 2nd channel authority. Summarized by Omer Zak at 28 Nov 1993.
Last update date: 2005 Dec 1 On Monday evening Jan. 9th, 2006, I stood outside of the Hagana Train Station in Tel Aviv, near its entrance. During the previous half hour, there was light rain, but thankfully rain stopped altogether before the demonstration itself began. A month ago, Shmuel Katz, a deaf-blind man, was killed in this train station in a train accident. The root cause of the accident was lack of accessibility of information to people, who are blind, deaf or deaf-blind. Last update date: 2006 Jan 9 Rights of Deaf And HOH Under the ADA
